Dean and Christie Giles

Dean and Christie Giles, working with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Northern Australia.

Christie was brought up on the mission field in Indonesia, so it was no surprise when she ended up marrying Dean, a pilot with a heart for missions.

Dean grew up in Castlemaine, Central Victoria. His desire to serve God with his flying skills led him to MAF. In 1999, Dean and Christie left Victoria to commence service with MAF in Arnhem Land. Since then the family has grown with the addition of four wonderful children: Emily (’01), Bianca (’03), Nick (’05) and Kira (’07).

After seven years of flying in Arnhem Land, Dean took up an administrative role as Operations Manager. Due to his knowledge and experience, Dean was asked to become Assistant Programme Manager in 2011 to assist in the day-to-day running of the MAF Arnhem Land programme. Christie has had a number of roles in her time here, from tutoring aboriginal ladies to supplying Christian literature and supporting young mothers. She takes care of a temporary accommodation unit for MAP staff and visitors passing through Gove. Christie commenced part time work in 2012 as a Teacher’s Aide at Nhulunbuy Christian College.
